Business Precinct

When Leisure Island was laid out a business precinct was planned around Kingsway Park, and certain properties surrounding this Park have business rights. Over time various enterprises were established there, and the 'Pink Umbrella' was a landmark for many years.

Currently the precinct houses a coffee shop, art gallery/antique dealer as well as two real estate agents.

The building that houses the art gallery and antique shop has a long history. It was initially built as The Leisure Island Service Station and Garage. In 1952 it was transformed into the Wiles Gallery by Island artist Brian Wiles to display the work of his father WG Wiles. Over many years up until its sale in 2000, the gallery featured mainly the work of the family group of artists consisting of WG, his brothers Bernard and Frank, as well as Brian, Lucy, Pauline and Jane Wiles.
